2020 Programme
While we anticipate delivering the following programme of classes and workshops we reserve the right to amend sessions in advance of the event.
Classes: Guests will attend each of the following classes as part of a small group of similar level experience.
Hip Hip Hooray: Because of the amount of time many of us spend sitting, the hips can often feel tight and stiff. A common complaint in classes is ‘my hip flexors are so tight’ and restrictions at the hip can make some Pilates exercises feel impossible to do, like the roll up or teaser. Our session will explore how we can restore correct movement around the hip through release, mobilization and strengthening enabling those hips to just ‘let go’.
Kettlebell-lates: Pilates builds strength and prepares the body to take on more challenging fitness disciplines in particular the Kettlebell. Everyone we teach Pilates to would benefit from adding resistance training such as the Kettlebell. It helps build lean muscle, burn fat and improve bone quality. In this session we use Pilates to stabilize and activate the core connections and then add Kettlebell moves to prove a further challenge. A strong low-impact all over body workout with particular emphasis on the glutes and core and a perfect introduction to the Kettlebell.
Yoga: This yoga class is a bit special as our guest instructor will teach you in the wonderful serenity of the Cowdray Hall Chapel. This session will be focusing on outer and inner strength. Yoga is a wonderful way to nurture your sense of inner strength because it is not just a physical strengthening and revitalising practice but is also a way of promoting a healthy mental well being. We will be exploring strengthening poses and focus on clearing and focusing the mind. This class will be suitable for all levels.
Choice Sessions: In addition to the 3 core classes guests will choose to attend one of the following sessions. While we will do our best to accommodate your preference, places within each session are limited and will be offered upon booking on a first come first basis.
Fitness Yoga: Power up your poses. Fitness Yoga is a unification of fitness and yoga to promote stretch, strength and balance. A mix of dynamic movement to build body heat with deep stretching to calm the mind this will be an uplifting session set to motivating music. Strengthen major muscles including legs, glutes and core and improve flexibility and balance. Not suitable for anyone with back issues.
Balanced Body Balanced Mind: A challenging but feel good session with a focus on balance and co-ordination. Easy to follow low impact exercises are performed emphasising quality of movement. Balance your Body will provide a holistic workout that will bring the body into a state of harmony and balance. The workout is completed with a deep stretch and stress reducing relaxation using essential oils.
Vipassana Workshop: Vipassana is a gentle but thorough form of ancient meditation. Natalie our guest yoga instructor will be introducing you to Vipassana in the form of a body scan relaxation technique where you will be lying down and tensing and releasing your muscles. This is also particularly good physically if you are suffering from muscle and joint aches and pains as it squeezes out the amino acids from cartilage in your joints.
